Maddern Nails Down NECC Pitcher of the Week Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Southern Vermont College freshman outfielder Pat Warrington (Folcroft, Pa.) batted .588 (10-for-17), while chipping in six RBI and five runs for the Mountaineers. Warrington led his team to a 3-2 week, hitting safely in all five games, collecting multiple hits in three contests, and crushing two home runs. Warrington helped Southern Vermont sweep NECC opponent Mitchell, winning 6-3 in the opener and 10-8 in the nightcap. In the first game against the Mariners, he had a stellar performance going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, including one shot over the fence. He slugged.941 and posted a .611 on-base percentage, while finishing the week with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Becker College sophomore Errick Maddern (West Haven, Conn.) tossed seven shutout innings and struck out three batters in a 3-0 complete game victory over NECC pre-season favorite Elms College. Maddern scattered three hits while walking two for his impressive lone appearance on the mound this week for the Hawks.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Southern Vermont College freshman pitcher/catcher Eric Wells (Athens, Pa.) batted .533 (8-for-15) with one double, one home run, six RBI and seven runs scored as the Mountaineers raced to a 3-2 weekly mark, including a 2-0 NECC weekly record. Wells hit safely and scored at least one run in each of the four games behind the plate. He did not strike out in 15 trips to the plate and finished the week with an impressive 1.000 slugging and fielding percentage.
