Hawks Fly Past Wilmington

Port Charlotte, Fla- Becker had 15 hits in route to a 13-1 victory against Wilmington College in men's baseball action.
The Hawks got things started in the 2nd inning when Cody Carlson worked a bases loaded walk, forcing Ryan Sczerbinski in from third. Joe Corey continued his impressive start with a RBI dribbler down the third base line, scoring Frank Vaccaro.
Becker added 3 runs to their lead in top half of the 4th inning. John Dutchick and Jario Valdez lead off the inning with singles. After Joe Corey popped into a double play, Keith Kandel doubled to left, scoring Dutchick from third. With two on and two out, Ryan Sczerbinski singled to center, plating two more Hawks.
In the 5th inning, Jario Valdez made the score 6-0 with an RBI single. Becker blew the game wide open in the top of the 7th inning, as the Hawks put up a 7 spot, to clinch their first win of the season.
Six Becker players had multiple hits in the game. Keith Kandel drove in 3 runs to lead the Hawks offensive attack. Pierce Onthank was flawless in his first collegiate start. Onthank allowed just 4 hits, 0 earned runs, in 7 innings of work, to earn the win. Becker improved to 1-3 on the season. Wilmington fell to 1-1.
