Swiderski Carries Hawks In Opener
Leicester, Mass. - After being down 1-0 early, the Becker Hawks went on a 4-0 run to defeat Daniel Webster. This was the first game for both teams in the newly formed New England Collegiate Conference. It was the first field hockey game in school history for Daniel Webster.
Daniel Webster got things started 10:12 into the game when Emily Coole (Pepperell, MA) scored the first goal in school history. Becker would answer back when Kristal Swiderski (Warren, MA) scored one of her three goals on the day. With the score tied at one, Swiderski struck again when she redirected a Rachel Fink(Bath, PA) shot into the back for the goal. The Hawks took a 2-1 lead late into the 2nd half when Victoria Sirchia(Goshen, CT) scored her first collegiate goal, putting Becker up 3-1. With just over a minute remaining in the contest, Kristal Swiderski scored her third goal of the game to complete the hat trick. Daniel Webster goalkeeper Amy Prince (Hope Valley, RI) was on her toes all game, as the hawks took 16 shots on net. Box Score
