Bison Blitz Hawks, 7-1

Leicester, Mass - The Nichols Bison field hockey team scored four first half goals en route to a 7-1 win over host Becker College today at Alumni Field. Nichols improved their record to 7-4 while the Hawks dropped to 5-6 (3-0 NECC).
Forward Eileen Clinton (Londonderry, NH) got the Bison on the board just 2:25 into the game with a drive on net from the top of the circle past Becker net minder Ciara Lawrence (Costa Mesa, CA). Lawrence finished the game with 13 saves.
Nichols broke the game open with three goals in three minutes towards the end of the first half. Sara Bailey (Athol, MA) scored first when she put back a goal in the middle of a scramble in front of the net. Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, MA) then drove down the left side of the field split the defenders and hit the back of the net. Amber Cottrell (Hoosick Falls, NY) finished off the first half scoring to give the Bison a 4-0 lead.
The Bison didn't let down in the second half scoring three more goals. Correia scored :24 seconds in for her second goal of the game to make it a 5-0 game. Clinton finished off the scoring tailing her second goal of the game and assisted on a Lauren Correia (Seekonk, MA) strike in the 55th minute.
Becker broke up the Bison's bid for the shutout when freshman Katlyn Eisele (Walton, NY) stripped the Bison defender and put a shot past goaltender Mary Michaud (Agawam, MA) for her first collegiate goal.
Becker returns to the turf Thursday October 9th when they travel to Wenham, Mass for a 4:00pm match-up against Gordon College. Nichols travels to Fitchburg State on Thursday for a 7:00pm tilt.
