Field Hockey Tricked by Westfield

Leicester, Mass. - Jessi Gould (Canton, Mass.) scored a hat trick; as Westfield State defeated Becker College 4-1 in field hockey action today.
The Owls scored first when Kate Moss (Auburn, Mass.) fed Kara Guittarr (Dedham, Mass.), who scored from point blank range. Westfield took a 2-0 lead when Alicia Gardner (Athol, Mass.) set up Jessi Gould for a quick shot on the left post, putting Westfield State ahead for good.
In the 2nd half Becker answered back when a Nicole Lijana (Moorestown, NJ) shot was tipped in front by Kristal Swiderski (Warren, Mass.), for the Hawks only goal. Jessi Gould scored her 2nd goal of the game when Kate Moss fed Gould by the left goal post, for the 3-1 advantage. Jessi Gould completed the hat trick when she rebound a shot off the goal pad of Ciara Lawrence (Costa Mesa, CA), slapping it home for the 4-1 final.
Becker could only muster 4 shots on the Owls stingy defense. Westfield State goalkeeper Amanda McCarthy (Franklin, Mass) made 3 saves to earn the win. The 7-5 Owls will host Framingham State on Saturday at 10:30 am. Becker goalkeeper Ciara Lawrence made 9 saves in a losing effort. The 7-8 Hawks will host Wheelock College on Saturday at 12:00pm.
