Field Hockey Glides Past Bay Path


Leicester, Mass.-  Becker College defeated Bay Path College 9-0 in New England Collegiate Conference field hockey action.

The Hawks score their first goal 15:30 into the game when Kristal Swiderski (Warren, MA.) intercepted a clear attempt, scoring her 8th goal of the season. Becker freshman Victoria Sirchia (Goshen, CT) scored the next two goals, giving the Hawks a comfortable 3-0 lead. Kristal Swiderski drove a feed from Stephanie Dixon (Rockport, MA) into the net for a 4-0 advantage. With just five seconds remaining in the half, Nicole Lijana (Moorestown, NJ) squeezed past the Bay Path defense for a breakaway goal.

In the 2nd half, Becker scored four more goals. Stephanie Dixon scored her first two goals of the season. Kayla Messina (Summerville, MA) and Katlyn Eisele (Walton, NY) also added goals for the Hawks. Bay Path goalkeeper Kim Amirault (Saugas, MA.) battled hard the entire game, facing 23 shots, turning away 14 of them.

Becker improved its record to 6-7 overall and 4-0 in the NECC. Bay Path fell to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in the NECC. The two teams will play again on Monday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
