Suber Scores 800th Point In Hawks Win


Leicester, Mass.- Travis Suber (Springfield, Mass.) score a game high 21 points  as Becker College defeated Newbury College 93-78 in New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball action.

Walky Magolire (Waltham, Mass.) gave the Nighthawks their only lead of the contest with a free throw to start the game. Rajai Leggett (New Haven, Conn.) led Becker with 12 points in the first half, as Becker took a 10 point lead into the locker room.

In the 2nd half, Newbury refused to go down quietly.  After Becker extended their lead to 16 points with just over 18:00 left on the clock, Newbury went on a 29-14 run, cutting the Becker advantage down to 1.  The Nighthawks were within one point of tying the game three times, only to have Becker hold their ground.  Becker went on a 14-0 run with less than five minutes remain to earn their 8th with of the season.

Kevin Cleveland (Lynn, Mass.) led Newbury with 17 points. Paul Beckford (Somerville, Mass.) chipped in with 13 points in a losing effort. The Nighthawks fell to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the NECC.  Rajai Leggett scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to notch his first double of the season. DeJohn Exum (New London, Conn.) also scored 20 points in a winning effort. The Hawks improved to 9-5 overall and 3-2 in the NECC.

The 21 points that Travis Suber scored puts him at 816 points for his career at Becker College. Travis has accomplished this in just 41 games (19.9 PPG) as a Hawk.
