Suber Scores 1,000th Point In Win

Leicester, Mass.- Travis Suber (Springfield, Mass.) scored his 1,000th career point, as the Becker defeated Wheelock 82-71 in New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball action.
In the first half, the two teams battled through 5 lead changes. Becker held a 2 point lead with 8:17 remaining in the first half before they went on an 11-0 run. Travis Suber hit a jumper at the buzzer, sending the Hawks into the locker room with an 11 point halftime advantage. Suber led the Hawks with 21 first half points. Sherard Robbins kept Wheelock within striking distance with 15 first half points.
Wheelock opened the 2nd half on a 15-6 run, before Travis Suber pulled up and hit a jumper, scoring his 1,000th career point. With the Hawks ahead by 3, David Tavares nailed a 3 pointer, tying the game at 56. Max Kaim and Dan Puchala hit back to back jumpers, giving Wheelock their first lead since 16:04 of the first half. Wheelock held a slim 2 point lead until Rajai Leggett (New Haven, Conn.) nailed a jumper while being fouled, tying the game for the 10th time. Leggett hit his free throw, propelling the Hawks on a 17-6 run to finish the game.
Sherard Robbins led the Wildcats with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Dan Main and Max Kaim had 12 and 11 points respectively. Wheelock fell to 7-15 overall and 5-6 in the NECC.
Becker was led by its newest member of the 1,000 point club, as Travis Suber finished the day with a game high 30 points. Suber became the fastest player since Becker joined the NCAA in 1998 to score 1,000 points. Rajai Leggett earned his 2nd double-double of the week and 3rd of the season, as he finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds. The Hawks improved to 15-7 overall and 8-3 in the NECC. The Hawks 15th win is highest win total for a men's basketball team at Becker since Joining the NCAA. The previous record of 14 wins was held by the 1999-2000 team.
