Assumption Skates Past Ice Hawks
Marlboro, Mass.-Despite being outshot 39-29, Assumption College defeated Becker College 3-1 in men's hockey action.
Assumption got the scoring started on the tail end of a two man advantage, when Nick Blanchette (Stuart, Fla.) set up Marc Labb (Longmeadow, Mass.) for a breakaway goal. The Greyhounds added to their lead, when Kevin Glanzman (Massapequa, NY) fed Dennis Silvio (Beverly, Mass.) on another breakaway goal.
Assumption put the game out of reach 12:06 into the 3rd period, when Pat O'Kane (Hollis, NH) scored his 9th goal of the season. John Nogatch (Seattle, Wash.) scored the Hawks lone goal 1:53 later, but the Greyhounds proved to be too much for the Hawks.
Tony Stoehr (DePere, Wis.) made 26 saves in a losing effort. The Hawks fell to 10-13 on the season. Nick Blanchette was solid in net, making 38 saves in a winning effort. The Greyhounds improved to 6-12-4.
