Ice Hawks Get Back On Track With Win Over Plymouth State


Leicester, Mass.- Two 3rd period goals in just over two minutes, helped the Hawks defeat Plymouth State University 3-2 in ECAC Northeast hockey action.

The Hawks got on the board 1:35 into the game when Robert Johnson (Fenton, MI) took a feed from Kevin Coyne (Polos Heights, IL) and John Nogatch (Kirkland, WA). The early goal was the only scoring of the 1st period.

In the 2nd period, Plymouth State tied the game 5:12 into the period when Bill Dares and Chris Cantara set up Sean Buckley, for his 2nd goal of the season. The two teams skated to a 1-1 tie at the 2nd intermission.

In the 3rd period, Dave Dufresne gave the Panthers their first lead of the game, when he drove a pass from Sean Buckley, past Becker goaltender Tony Stoehr (Depere, WI). The Hawks answered back 3:19 later, when Trevor Peltak (Merrimack, NH) scored his first goal of the season. Becker scored the game winner minutes later, when Robert Johnson redirected a bouncing puck through the legs of Plymouth goaltender Kevin Crosby. Plymouth elected to pull their goal with 1:05 remaining on the clock, but the Becker defense held onto the 3-2 victory.

Tony Stoehr made 23 saves in a winning effort. The Hawks improve to 3-7 on the year. Kevin Crosby made 22 saves in a losing effort. The Panthers fall to 3-6 on the year.
