Ice Hawks Win 3rd Straight
Marlboro, Mass.- Becker scored 4 goals in just over 4 minutes, as the Hawks defeated Southern New Hampshire University 7-3 in ECAC Northeast men's hockey action.
Southern New Hampshire got the scoring started 4:11 into the game when John Frey scored his 5th goal of the season. The Hawks answered back 5:10 later when Patrick Bellew (Newington, Conn.) took a feed from Brian Murray (Manalapan, NJ.) and Peter Landem (Lombard, IL.), tying the game at 1. The Penmen went ahead 2-1 on a William Tommey goal with 4:25 left in the period.
In the 2nd period, Patrick Bellew scored his 2nd goal of the game on an assist from Brian Murray and Jared Kersner (Rockville, MO). With the score tied at 2, Brandon Sheehan scored the final goal of the game for Southern New Hampshire. Mike Caprio (Velencia, Calif.) got the Hawks bombardment of goals started when he ripped a one timer from Trevor Peltak (Merimack, NH) past the Southern New Hampshire goalie, tying the game for the 3rd time. Derrek Stabile (Sault St. Marie, MI) followed the Caprio goal with an unassisted tally, putting Becker up 4-3. The Hawks scored again 56 seconds later, when Jim Ceglarek (Chicago, IL) and Trevor Peltak set up Nate Sayer (Dracut, Mass.) for his 5th goal of the season. Becker scored their 4th goal of the period 17 seconds later on a Jared Kersner goal, making the score 6-3. Nate Sayer capped off the scoring for Becker when he was set up by Jim Ceglarek and Trevor Peltak.
Todd Rowley and Shane Brooks combined for 19 saves in a losing effort. The Penmen fell to 6-9 on the season.
Tony Stoehr (DePere, WI.) made 24 saves, to help guide the Hawks to their 3rd straight win. Becker improved to 10-11 on the season.
