Eagles Soar Past Hawks

Leicester, Mass. - Sophomore forward Spencer Bernard (Windsor Locks, Conn.) scored two break-a-way goals in a three minute span and lifted the Daniel Webster College (3-2, 1-0 NECC) men's soccer team to a 4-2 win over Becker College (1-7, 0-1 NECC) in New England Collegiate Conference action at Alumni Field.

After a scoreless first half, Daniel Webster broke the ice when sophomore forward Alex Jackson (Kent, Ohio) scored on a give and go with Andre Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) at the 51:56 mark.

The Eagles held the slim 1-0 lead for just eight minutes when Hawks freshman midfielder Ryan Singh (Elmont, NY) headed in a cross from senior Snjezan Telebak (Chicago, IL) past DWC goaltender Joe Keene (Bristol, NH) to tie the score at 1-1.

Daniel Webster broke the tie just a minute and a half later when junior Ryan Kunker (Clifton Park, NJ) tallied from 15 yards out into the left hand corner past Hawks senior net minder Aaron Fill (Ladner, BC).

After Bernard's two goals, Becker's Singh and Telebak teamed up again for the final goal of the game.

Keene made five saves to pick up the win, while Fill turned aside two shots in the defeat.

The Hawks return to action Monday night when they host Wheelock in NECC action at 6:00 pm.
