Men's Soccer Blanked By Beacons


Leicester, Mass- UMass Boston took advantage of four first half goals, as the Beacons defeated Becker College 4-0 in men's non-conference soccer action.

Karim Boubess (Beirut, Lebanon) put the beacons on the board 00:41 into the game, when he rebounded a blocked shot, turned and shot it over the head of Becker goalkeeper Aaron Fill (Ladner, BC).  Becker hurt themselves twice in the first half on own goals. The first own goal was scored when a shot ricocheted off a Becker defender, making the score 2-0. The second own goal was scored when a Becker defender tried to clear a corner kick, but headed the ball into his own net. The Beacons made the score 4-0 when Alvin Qiriazi (Roslindale, Mass) spun a shot past the drive of Aaron Fill.

Julian Crowder (Salem, Mass) make one save to earn the win in relief of the scheduled starter Domenick Persuitte (Barnstable, Mass), who was scratched at game time. The Beacons improved to 3-4-1 on the season.

Aaron Fill faced 13 shots, saving nine in a losing effort. The Hawks fell to 2-8 overall.
