Hawks Top NECC Mens Tennis Preseason Poll
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Becker College has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the New England Collegiate Conference men's tennis championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECC's head men's tennis coaches.
This is the inaugural year for the New England Collegiate Conference. Five of the nine NECC members sponsor men's tennis.
The Becker Hawks (10-13, 4-1 NAC) received three of the five first-place votes in the 2009 NECC preseason poll. The Hawks are led by first-year head coach David Bostick. The Hawks return top player in junior Snjezan Telbak (Chicago, Ill.), who went 10-3 singles.
Mitchell College received one first-place vote with 33 points to claim the second spot. Wheelock College was third with 28 points. Lesley University and Newbury College rounded out the field in fourth-place spot with 26 points. The Lynx received one first-place vote.
