Softball Walks Past Southern Vermont


Leicester, Mass.- In a rain shorten game, Becker College rallied past Southern Vermont 16-13 in women's softball action.

Becker trailed 13-10 going into the bottom of the fifth inning. Leann Norrman (Auburn, Mass) led off with a sharp single to left field. Southern Vermont starting pitcher Danielle Tischer (Salem, Conn) then proceeded to walk the next three batters, forcing Norrman home from third base. With the bases still loaded, Jessica Lewis (Bellingham, Mass) earned another RBI walk, putting the Hawks within one. Amanda Forgaren stepped to the plate with one out and hit a pop fly to right field; which was misplayed, allowing Rachel Weidele (Woodbridge, NJ) to score the tying run. The Hawks took the lead for good when Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, Mass) drove a single to right field, scoring Jessica Lewis. The Hawks added two more runs before the game was called after the fifth inning do to torrential rains.

Cala Colvin (Hoosick Falls, NY) led the Mountaineers with one hit and 2 RBI's. Danielle Tischer took the loss, as she pitched five innings allowing seven earned runs. Southern Vermont fell to 1-12 overall and 0-5 in the NECC.

Amanda Fogaren has two hits and four RBI's, including a two run homerun in the bottom of the first inning. Shannon Tibbetts had a breakout game, going three for four with two RBI's. Fogaren earned her first win of the season, as she pitched four innings, allowing eight earned runs. Becker improved to 1-13 overall and 1-6 in the NECC.
