Women's Basketball Falls To Lesley

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's basketball team
defeated Becker College 64-57 on Thursday evening and with the
victory have reached the highest win total in a single season for
any Lynx women's basketball team in school history. Lesley
improved to 12-9 (11-1 NECC) while Becker dropped to 11-10 (7-5
NECC).
Lesley sophomore Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.) played her best game
of the season as the center netted 17 points and grabbed nine
rebounds. Caira also recorded three assists and two
blocks.
Fellow low-post threat Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) tallied a
double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lynx were able to overcome a solid performance from Beth Pion
(Enfield, Conn.) who finished the game with 24 points, 10 rebounds,
three blocks, and two steals. Pion caused problems for Lesley
both in the low-post and from long range as the senior hit 7-of-17
shots including four three-pointers.
Becker's Courtney Fiske (Westfield, Mass.) also tallied
double-digit points with 13.
The Hawks were winning 39-38 in the second half when Caira gave the
Lynx a lead they would not relinquish by scoring Lesley's next 10
points. Caira's effort was part of a Lesley low-post effort
that outscored the opponent 18-10.
