Hawks Soar Past AMCats
Leicester, Mass.- Becker College started the game on a 15-0 run and never looked back, as the Lady Hawks defeated Anna Maria 90-59.
In the first half, the Hawks led by as much as 31 points. Beth Pion (Enfield, Conn) led the Hawks with 18 first half points. Amanda Hevy (North Brookfield, Mass) led the AMCats with 9 points. Becker took a 52-23 advantage into halftime.
In the 2nd half, Becker held a 31 point lead until a Maggie Sielawa (Webster, Mass) jumper and 3 Amanda Hevy 3 pointers, cut the score to 70-50. The 11-0 Anna Maria run was quickly matched by a 9-0 Becker run, putting the game out of reach.
Amanda Hevy went 8 for 20 from 3 point range, to carry the AMCats with 26 points. Samantha Ashton (Worcester, Mass) added 12 points in the losing effort. Anna Maria fell to 3-7 on the season. Beth Pion did one better than Hevy, as she scored a game high 27 points. Rachel Pinak(Cheektowaga, NY) added 20 points in a winning effort. Becker improved to 2-4 on the year.
