Lady Hawks Get First Win
Wenham, Mass. -- Becker defeated Gordon 59-41 at the Gordon
College Tipoff Tournament. Guard Sara Schwanke poured in 10
points for the Scots in the defeat and was named to the
All-Tournament Team.
The event concluded with a 3pm game won 63-61 by Houghton College
over Lyndon State.
In the opener, Becker shot out to an early lead as the Gordon
offense struggled to find the range, trailing 27-13 at
halftime. Strong work by Erin Thames helped keep the Scots
competitive as she finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
However, 6-foot center Beth Pion was too much for Gordon to handle
as scored 27 points and had 12 rebounds over 36 minutes of
play. Pion had an 11-12 performance at the foul line, en
route to joining Schwanke on the All-Tournament Team.
Forward Rebecca Carroll was the other Scots player to reach double
digits as she also scored 11.
Gordon (0-4) will be back in action on Tuesday at 5pm in their
final game before Thanksgiving break. The Scots will face St.
