Miller Carries Lady Hawks Past Newbury

Leicester, Mass.- Becker College had four players in double figures, in route to a 77-56 win in New England Collegiate Conference women's basketball action.
Newbury jumped out to an early seven point lead, before the Hawks went on a 14-0 run. The rally propelled the Hawks to a 13 point halftime lead. Heidi Miller (Sanbornton, NH.) came off the bench to pull down 11 first half rebounds.
In the 2nd half, Becker never gave up their lead. Rachel Pinak (Cheektowaga, NY.) carried the Hawks with a game high 23 points, coming one rebound shy of a double-double. Despite going 1 for 8 from three point range, Courtney Fiske (Westfield, Mass.) chipped in 14 points. Heidi Miller collected her 2nd double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and ripping down 15 rebounds. Beth Pion (Enfield, Conn.) also notched a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Rashawna Wynn led Newbury with 13 points. Morganna Machado and Shayla White had 12 and 11 points respectively. The Nighthawks fell to 5-18 overall and 5-9 in the NECC. Becker improved to 12-11 overall and 8-6 in the NECC. The Hawks will travel to Bay Path College on Thursday night for another NECC battle.
