Lady Hawks Wheel Past Wheelock

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Heidi Miller (Sanbornton, NH) and Beth Pion (Endield, CT) combined for 24 rebounds and 26 points to help Becker College defeat Wheelock 63-43 Tuesday night at Pine Manor College. Teammate Rachel Pinak (Cheektowaga, NY) led all scores with 17 points, including 5-8 shooting from the field.

Joy Holliday (Milford, MA) hit a jumper at the 16:28 mark in the first period to bring the Wildcats within two, but that's as close as Wheelock would get in the game. Becker responded with a 23-6 run over the next several minutes, six of which came from Miller.

The Wildcats struggled from the field for most of the night, shooting only 23 percent for the game. Elise Ordile (Waltham, MA) led all Wheelock scores with 12 points while teammate Kerry Casey (Medford, MA) continued to dominate the boards with 11 caroms.

The win moves Becker over the .500 mark, as the team improves to 10-9 on the season and 6-4 in the NECC. Wheelock falls to 2-16 on the year and 2-7 in the conference. The Wildcats will next travel to New Hampshire on Saturday to take on Daniel Webster College.
