Mullen Carries Hawks Past Anna Maria

Leicester, Mass.- Tammy Mullen (Pottstown, PA) scored 15 goals, as Becker College soared past Anna Maria 23-11 in women's lacrosse action.
Anna Maria jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals from Marie Barral (Worcester, Mass) and Amanda Hevey (North Brookfield, Mass). Becker answered back with 7 unanswered goals, 3 by Tammy Mullen. Marie Barral put Anna Maria within 4, with her 2nd goal of the afternoon. Tammy Mullen answered with her 82nd goal of the season, putting Becker up by 5. Anna Maria refused to give in, as Marie Barral scored 3rd goal of the game. Crystal Torres (Southbridge, Mass) continued the Amcats rally with a goal, cutting the Hawks lead down to 3. After Tammy Mullen scored another goal for Becker, the Amcats scored 2 goals with a player advantage, making the score 9-7. Tammy Mullen showed why she was selected as the NEWLA Player of the Week, as she scored 3 unanswered goals in 1:43, giving the Hawks an 11-7 advantage. With 0:09 remaining in the first half, Mullen scored what proved to be the game winning goal.
Becker opened the 2nd half with 6 more unanswered goals, as the Hawks won their 7th game of the season.
Marie Barral carried the Amcats with 4 goals. Amanda Hevy chipped in with 3 goals. Katie Schebel (Ludlow, Mass) and Crystal Torres rounded out the scoring for Anna Maria with 2 goals each. Katherine Chousa (Norwood, Mass) made 12 saves in goal, as the Anna Maria fell to 1-8 on the season.
Tammy Mullen continued her amazing season, as she scored 15 goals. Mullen now has 93 goals on the year, just 14 shy of an NCAA single season record. Morgan Hazen (Woodstock, VT) showed why she was selected as the NEWLA Rookie of the Week, as she scored 5 goals. Alena Phongsa (Putnam, Conn) made 10 saves, as the Hawks improved to 7-6 on the season.
