Falcons Swoop Hawks

Leicester, Mass. - The Falcons of Albertus Magnus swooped in on the Becker Hawks today and defeated them 1-0 at Alumni Field. The Hawks drop to 1-3 on the season while AMC records their first win and improve to 1-2-1.

Albertus scored quickly into the contest when freshman Sarah Boudreau (Pascoag, RI) converted a Leanna Weisslender (New Haven, CT) shot just four minutes into the game.

Keeper Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, MA) kept the score 1-0 when she stopped an AMC breakaway with just under seventeen minutes remaining in the half. Tibbetts finished with eight saves in the game.

The scoreless second half was a battle of wills with both teams having several chances to score and both teams unable to convert. Becker was led by Ashley deFigueiredo (Dartmouth, MA) and Catherine Millette (Columbia, CT) on offense and Helen Lamptey (Worcester, MA) had a strong game on defense.

The Hawks return to action on Wednesday, September 17 when they travel to Regis College for a 4:00pm contest.
