Tibbetts Carries Lady Hawks One Step Closer to NECC Playoffs
Leicester, Mass.- Becker College defeated Bay Path College 4-0 in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer action.
The Hawks got on the board 2:33 into the game when Alena Phongsa (Putnam, CT) ripped an Alexandra Fernandes (Tucson, AZ) pass off the right post and into the net. Becker scored their 2nd goal when Caitlin North (Columbia, CT) took rebound from a Bay Path defender and hooked it into the net for the 2-0 lead. Just before the half, Bay Path had some miscommunication in front of their own net, leading to an own goal.
In the 2nd half, Alexandra Fernandes scored from 25 yards out, to wrap up the scoring. The Hawks defense played solid in the half to preserve the 4-0 win.
Bay Path goalkeeper Christine Hollingworth (Lenox, MA) made 3 saves in a losing effort. The Wildcats (2-10-2, 2-4-1 NECC) will host fellow NECC opponent Mitchell College on Saturday at 1pm. Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, MA) made 4 saves to earn her first shutout of the season. The Hawks (5-9-1, 4-2-1 NECC) will host fellow NECC opponent Daniel Webster on Saturday at 4pm.
