Millette Spins Hawks Past Wheelock


Boston, MA - Catherine Millette (Columbia, CT) scored the game-tying and game-winning goals today, leading Becker College to a 3-1 conference win over Wheelock College. The win improves Becker to 2-2 in the NECC and 3-7 overall, while Wheelock falls to 2-6-1 on the year and 1-3-1 in the conference.

Becker lit up the scoreboard first when Freshman Alexandra Fernandes (Tucson, AZ) rifled a shot past Wheelock goalie Victoria Fernandes (Randolph, MA) to give the Hawks a 1-0 advantage. The wildcats tied the game with under ten minutes to play in the half when Nicki Wilson (Brighton, MA) launched a pass from teammate Stacy Seidner (Pembroke, NH) into the back of the net.

Millette broke the tie 1:29 into the second period on a pass from Fernandes to give her team the lead for good. Becker goalie Alena Phongsa (Putnam, CT) collected seven saves to help preserve the win, while Wheelock goalie Fernandes recorded nine saves.
