Plunkett Pushes Lady Hawks Past Anna Maria


Leicester, Mass.- In women's soccer action, freshman Caroline Plunkett (Rockaway, NY) scored her first two collegiate goals in a 3-2 win over Anna Maria.

Plunkett scored her first goal 51:29 into the game on a beautiful feed in front from Alexandra Fernandes (Tucson, AZ). Plunkett returned the favor in the 60th minute, as she set up Fernandes for a one-timer into the right corner of the net.

Maggie Sielawa (Webster, MA) put Anna Maria within one when she ripped a shot over the head of the Becker goalkeeper, making the score 2-1.

Carolina Plunkett scored the eventual game winning goal in the 67th minute when she took a feed from Catherine Millette (Columbia, CT), chipping it over the head of the Anna Maria goalkeeper.

Moira Twigg (Middleboro, MA) made things interesting in the final two minutes when she took advantage of a misplayed ball in front of the Hawks net, making the final score 3-2.

Tabitha Ruggeri (Sturbridge, MA) made 6 saves in a losing effort. The loss pushes Anna Maria to 0-2 on the season. Shannon Tibbetts (Warren, MA) made 4 saves in a winning effort. The Hawks improved to 1-0 on the season.
