Women's Tennis Falls To Eastern Naz.

September 10, 2009.  Quincy, MA. - The Eastern Nazarene Lions women's tennis team fought to their first win of the season in a close. 5-4, match against the visiting Becker College Hawks today on the campus of ENC in Quincy, MA.

The decisive points came down to the final match of the day at #3 singles between Eastern Nazarene's Elise Sleeper (Sanford, ME) and Becker's Shawna McNally (Worcester, MA).  McNally flew out to a first set 6-0 win, but Sleeper won the second set 6-4 and forced the match into a super set-tiebreaker that would decided the days winner.  Sleeper managed to pull off a 10-6 win in the tiebreaker to give the Lions the win.

Eastern Nazarene's Sleeper and teammate Laura Keith (W. Bridgewater, MA) also managed to take a vital point at #2 doubles as they beat Becker's McNally and Jessie Burdick (Clinton, MA) 9-8 to give the Lions a win in two out of the three doubles matches.

Coach Popa felt that, "It was a great team effort!  Sleeper, after losing the first set 0-6, fought back and got the fifth point us."

Eastern Nazarene (1-2) faces Western New England College on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 1 pm, while Becker hosts Mitchell College (1-3) on the same day at 12:00 pm.
