Women's tennis remains perfect in NECC.

The Newbury College women's tennis team lost a conference match today to visiting Becker College by a score of 7-2.  Nighthawk freshman Jennifer Swafford (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) continued to shine with a sweep on the day as she was victorious in both third doubles and fifth singles play.

Doubles action began with competitive matches across the board as players in all three games battled for their respective leads.  Becker first took control in second doubles as Megan Nessen (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) and Laura Mimms (Ashland, MA/Ashland) used their momentum to make quick work of Newbury winning the set 8-0.  First and third doubles battled to tie-break with Swafford and fellow freshman Julie MacLeod (Buffalo, NY/Frontier Senior) pulling out the win in the three spot.

Singles play was dominated by the Hawks as Becker earned points in the first four positions.  Junior Stephanie Valentine (Pleasant Valley, CT/Saint Paul Catholic) fought hard for the Nighthawks in fourth singles, but lost in set scores of 7-6 and 6-4 while Swafford defeated her opponent 6-2 and 6-1.
