Hougasian: A leader on and off the field

He stands six feet six inches tall and carries a heart big enough to support an entire team. On May 1st Josh Hougasian took to the boxing ring to raise money for the Worcester Boys and Girls Club. The fight was a battle of offensive lineman, as Josh took on T. J Campion of Assumption College. Campion stood six feet tall, 315 pounds. It took less than three rounds for Hougasian to finish off Campion and help raise over $95,000 for a great cause.
Josh trained for a mere seven days before taking to the ring. "I found out about the fight at the last minute. It was such a great opportunity, I couldn't pass it up." Josh felt that training for the fight helped improve his skills on the football field. "Training for boxing is a great idea for any athlete. It helped me with my hand-eye coordination, foot work, and cardiovascular conditioning."
The three year captain is excited about the 2008 football season. He looks forward to finally playing football on the Becker College campus. Josh is entering his senior year, where he will anchor and offensive line that is made up of mostly underclassmen. As a captain, Josh feels like he needs to lead by example and help guide the younger linemen in the right direction. One of Josh's personal goals for the 2008 season is not to allow a sack of his Quarterback. Along with his excitement about the new football field, Josh is excited about the new coaching staff. The new coaching staff is led by Head Coach Bill McDonald. When Josh was asked about the new coaching staff he had nothing but praise for Coach McDonald and his staff. "These guys are so knowledgeable and organized, I can't wait to start playing for them." As an offensive lineman, Josh looks forward to working with Offensive Coordinator Robert Grammer to establish a running game. Josh wants to walk away from Becker College knowing that he helped build a program. "I want people to be excited about Becker College Football. I want people to say WOW, that's a great up and coming program." Josh is not afraid to get excited about his fellow teammates. Josh thinks that fellow captain Jacques Faublas is set for a break out year. "He's probably the best athlete I've ever played with." Josh believes that Faublas is a player that fans should be excited about in 2008.
Josh is a graduate of Northbridge High School, in Northbridge Massachusetts. In high school Josh was a two time high school Super Bowl Champion. Josh is the son of Michael and Erin Hougasian.
