BECKER COLLEGE SPORTS MEDICINE DEPARTMENT (UPDATED FOR SPRING 2021)

The Becker College athletic training room, located on the lower level of Knight Hall on the Leicester Campus, includes therapeutic equipment such as hot and cold whirlpools, ultrasound machines, electrical stimulation machines, Game Ready machines, and Normatec machines. It also houses a variety of rehabilitation equipment, as well as staff trained in Graston technique, Kinesiotape application, and fire cupping.

The athletic training room is 1050 square feet and meets the needs of nearly 300 student-athletes competing on 12 varsity athletic teams.

Please read the following statement by Associate Athletic Trainer Kayla Cullerton in regards to the Athletic Training Room this semester:

"Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ATR will have to look different than in past years. We are still committed to providing you with the opportunity to utilize it as safely and effectively as possible.  This will require a great deal of patience, understanding, cooperation, and compromise from all of us, so let’s all be good teammates and work together to help this semester run as smoothly as possible."

PLEASE NOTE THE PROTOCOLS BEING FOLLOWED IN THE ATR THIS SEMESTER

  • A maximum of 10 people will be allowed in the ATR at one time
    • NO WALK-INS ALLOWED (By appointment only -- See Below for appointments)
  • NO food or drink will be allowed in the ATR this semester
  • Please use cubbies outside the main door of the ATR for all personal belongings
  • Leave your shoes in one of the cubbies provided OR bring a second pair to wear while in the ATR
  • Wipe down, clean, and/or sanitize EVERYTHING that you used while in the ATR (tables, mats, equipment, etc.

  • All hands-on treatment will be kept to 10 minutes or less
    • No soft-tissue work unless needed for an injury

MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO SEE AN ATHLETIC TRAINER --> CLICK HERE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT

In order to see an athletic trainer this semester, you must make an appointment on the Google Doc form provided. The content highlighted in yellow at the top of the Google Doc is an example. If you need an athletic trainer for something specific (evaluation for a new injury, rehab assistance/progression, manual therapy, etc.), please sign up on the left-hand side, and use the drop-down menu to select what you’re coming in for.

If you do NOT need an athletic trainer, but want to utilize the ATR on your own (stretching, foam rolling, rehab without assistance, tubs, stim, etc.), please sign up on the right-hand side. DO NOT sign up in spots that have been blacked out.  If there is no availability, DO NOT sign-up in a different spot or come in anyways - All ATR visits must be scheduled on the Google Doc.

This is a shared Google Doc that updates in real-time.  Edits can be made, but DO NOT delete someone else’s name without their permission and replace it with your own.  We have access to the edit history, so we’ll know who changed any previous information.  If you’re concerned with this happening to you and want to lock your name so nobody else has permission to edit it, do the following:

  1. Enter your name in the desired box
  2. Select that box with your name in it
  3. Click "Data" in the top toolbar
  4. Click "Protected sheets and ranges"
  5. Click "Set Permissions"
  6. Select "Restrict who can edit this range"
  7. Select "Only you and spreadsheet owner"
  8. Click "Done"

All appointments MUST be scheduled by 10:00 p.m. the night before.  For example, if you plan on coming in on a Monday, you need to be signed up by 10:00 p.m. on Sunday night.  If there is nobody signed up for a specific time slot, the ATR will not be open during that time (i.e. if nobody is scheduled until 8:30 a.m., the ATR will not open until 8:30 a.m.).  Please note that there may be times when the ATR needs to close last minute, but any appointments during that time will be rescheduled.  Further, there may be days that have different opening/closing times.

All closures, hours, etc. will be communicated on the Becker Sports Medicine Instagram page (@beckersportsmedicine).  On Sunday night, the schedule for the week will be posted on the Instagram page, and the Google Doc sign-up sheet will reflect those changes.
