Coming Off Shutout, Griese Earns Becker Athlete of the Week

LEICESTER, Mass. - Hawks sophomore Baileigh Griese (Woodstock, N.Y.) claimed her first career shutout this week and has been named the Becker Hawks Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sept. 22.

In the Hawks only match of the week, Griese turned away three shots from the Anna Maria College AMCATS, as an early fourth quarter goal by the Hawks made the difference in Becker's 1-0 win on Tuesday afternoon.

As of Sept. 23, Griese leads the New England Collegiate Conference in save percentage at 0.846, is tied for the most wins with four, and is one of five goalies with a shutout this season.

Griese sits at 4-2 on the year, tied for best record in the conference, while holding a 1.44 goals against average.

The Hawks return to action with a pair of games this week starting Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. match against Simmons on Alumni Field. Becker then travels to WPI on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
