Men's Hoops falls to AMCATS in opener

PAXTON, Mass. --- The Becker College men's basketball team opened their 2018-19 season on Monday afternoon with an 80-58 loss at Anna Maria College in non-conference play at the Fuller Center in Paxton.

• The Hawks were led by senior guard Kareem Davis (Lowell, Mass. / St. John's) who finished the contest with a game high 25 points.
• Davis was backed up by senior forward Dewayne Thomas (Lowell, Mass. / Lowell) and junior forward Antonio White Jr. (Middletown, Conn. / Middletown) who both finished with 11 points apiece. Thomas also contributes four steals and four blocks, with White adding three assists and three rebounds.
• The AMCATS finished with three scorers in double digits as the team shoots 54% from the field. Bobby Perette (Marshfield, Mass.) finished with 18 points for a second game in a row, along with being the team's highest scorer. Mike Rapoza (Charlton, Mass.) was right behind him as he gets another double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Freshmen Anthony Buckely (Haverhill, Mass.) continues to shoot at a very high percentage as he finishes over 50% again from the floor accumulating 12 points, 2 assists, and 3 boards.
• Anna Maria outrebounded Becker, 50-25.

Becker will be back on the court this Friday as they travel to Wesleyan to play at 6:00 p.m.
Anna Maria will be in the road this Friday as they head to Roger Williams for a tournament this weekend, where they will play Roger Williams Friday at 5:30 p.m.
