Tied at 2-2 after the second period, the Bison wasted little time taking the lead in the third period, scoring just 39 second into the third to give Nichols a 3-2 lead.

After winning a puck battle in the right-wing corner, Bison junior Curtis Carlson (Lakewood, N.Y.) fired a pass to junior Petr Miko (Zlin, Czech Republic) in the right-wing circle. Miko turned toward goal and fired a shot under the arm of Hawks senior goalie Zach Skop (Pittstown, N.J.) to give the Bison the lead.

Nichols sophomore Austan Bellefeuille (Framingham, Mass.) scored his third goal of the season on a coast-to-coast goal to give the Bison a 4-2 edge.

Further insurance was added with 7:17 remaining on a power-play goal by Carlson, a goal that gave Nichols a 5-2 lead.

The Hawks trailed 2-0 in the second period but back-to-back Hawks goals scored just 40 seconds apart tied the game 2-2.

First-year forward Tristan Mock (Jamestown, Pa.) scored his third goal of the season to make it 2-1. Senior Romain Wild (Mex, Switzerland) scored seconds later to tie the game 2-2.

  • Costello's goal gives him two goals to finish up the season. He added an assist earlier in the year as he finished the year with three points.
  • Skop made 15 saves in his final game of the season.

  • Carlson and senior Oliver Arnberg (Nynashamm, Sweden) both finished with one goal and one assist on the night.
  • Freshman Mathias Backstrom (Malmo, Sweden) made a career-high 35 saves in his first start, improving to 1-0-0 with the win.

The Hawks season has concluded for 2021. Hawks sophomore Luke James (Moon Township, Pa.) led the Hawks this season with six points, all assists. Junior Jason Diamond (Lakeville, Conn.) and sophomore Colby Audette (Colchester, Vt.) shared the team-lead in goals with four each.
