Pilgrims Power Past Men’s Lacrosse

HENNIKER, N.H. – The New England College (NEC) men's lacrosse team powered past the Hawks of Becker College, 23-4, in Saturday afternoon New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action.

  • NEC scored 10 consecutive goals in the first quarter to take a commanding 10-0 lead heading into the second quarter.  Connor Smith (Oakland, Maine), Reilly Parker (Laesboro, Mass.) and Charles Hacking (Canterbury, N.H.) each had two goals apiece in the first frame.
  • Smith completed the hat-trick in the first two minutes of the second quarter before Becker scored its first goal just under four minutes in, as Mitchell Eldridge (Bourne, Mass.) scored on a helper from Matthew Guerin (East Longmeadow, Mass.). However, Smith led the Pilgrims in a 7-1 run to conclude the half, leaving the Hawks behind 17-2.  Tyler Forest (Simi Valley, Calif.) had the Hawks second goal of the game on an assist from Jack Schneider (Morrisville, Vt.).
  • Guershon Villiere (Brentwood, N.Y.) guided the Pilgrims with two goals and an assist in the third quarter to score four more tallies.  Cameron Sangster (Columbus, Ohio) scored an unassisted goal for Becker with four and a half minutes to go in the third to set the score at 21-3.
  • NEC scored two more, and the Hawks wrapped the game up with a Mitchell Wilkins (Uxbridge, Mass.) goal, assisted by Forest, to settle at a 23-4 final.



  • The Hawks' four goals were dispersed amongst four individuals (Wilkins, Forest, Sangster, Eldridge).
  • Lewis Jaworski (Cambridge, Mass.) and goaltender Daniel Whittenburg (Eastford, Conn.) finished with a team-high four ground balls.
  • Ryan Clifford (Coventry, R.I.) led the Hawks with two caused turnovers.
  • Whittenburg was handed the loss in net, stopping 20-of-43 shots on net.



  • The Pilgrims outshot the Hawks, 64-14.
  • Smith put up a game-high six goals, while Hacking and Parker had four and three, respectively.
  • Both Parker and Liam Chenail (Williamstown, Mass.) had four assists each.  Jacob Blanchette (Weare, N.H.) had two for the hosts.
  • Christian Russo (Cheshire, Conn.) had a game-high 12 ground balls while chipping in two goals and one assist.
  • Fries had a game-high five caused turnovers.
  • Austin Frankel (Peabody, Mass.) won 10-of-11 faceoffs taken.
  • William Platt (San Francisco, Calif.) earned the win in net, stopping 5-of-9 shots on frame.


The Hawks' next game is scheduled for Tuesday (Apr. 16) against Nichols, 4 p.m. Prior to the start of the game, the Hawks will recognize its 2019 senior class.
