Softballs succumbs twice in Florida

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College softball team lost two games at the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida on Monday afternoon at the Hancock Complex in Clermont, Florida, falling short against Wheaton College, 5-1, in the opener before taking a 12-0 loss to Carthage College in their final game of the day.

FOR THE HAWKS

  • Becker junior shortstop Sarah Ellis (Berkley, Mass. / Bristol County Agricultural) went three-for-five on the day with a double, her first on the season. In just her third season, Ellis is already Becker's second all-time leader in career doubles.
  • Freshman third baseman Holly Letourneau (Woonsocket, R.I. / Woonsocket) had two hits including an RBI single.
  • Sophomore outfielder Elizabeth Simonian (Auburn, Mass. / Auburn) broke out of her slump with two hits on the day.
  • Sophomore pitcher Ashley Veillette (Danielson, Conn. / Killingly) allowed just three earned runs over six innings against Wheaton.

UP NEXT
The Hawks will look to bounce back on Tuesday when face Belhaven at 9:00 a.m. and Dominican of Illinois at 11:15 a.m.
