Nor'easters junior Kyra Yu (Ogden, Utah) opened the scoring in the first period at 5:32. Sophomore Meghan Hamilton (Rutland, Vt.) sprung Yu on a breakaway and the junior forward made no mistake as her shot squeezed through the pads of Hawks freshman goalie Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H.) to give UNE a 1-0 lead.

Midway through the second period, Hamilton would make score her first of the season to put the Nor'easters up 2-0.

A shot from the left point by junior Jessica Tolzman (Apex, N.C.) produced a rebound that found Hamilton, who managed to win a battle in front and score to double the UNE advantage.

UNE added further insurance in the third on a power-play goal by sophomore Bella Crugnale (Pittsburgh, Pa.).

Sophomore Elizabeth Walsh (Keene, N.H.) made the play happen, firing a perfect pass across the slot to a waiting Crugnale at the back door to put the Nor'easters up three goals.

Benjamin withstood a strong second period for the Hawks, making 13 saves for UNE in the middle period.

  • Sophomore Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) led the Hawks with seven shots on the night.
  • Lee made 21 saves for Becker, falling to 1-3-0 with the loss.

  • Hamilton's two-point night gives her a team-high six points through five games this season.
  • Yu's and Crugnale's goals were each their second tally of the season.
  • Benjamin improves to 4-0-1 in the 28-save shutout.
