WORCESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's ice hockey team lost 1-0 to visiting Nichols College on Friday evening in a matchup of Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) Worcester county rivals at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center in Worcester.

SCORING SUMMARY

  • The Bison struck first exactly 12 minutes into the second period when Nichols freshman forward Kayla Currin (Hudson, Mass. / The Tilton School) scored her second career goal, assisted by junior defender Jordyn McGuire (Salem, N.H. / Holderness School) and freshman forward Kaci Johnson (Wayzata, Minn. / Minnestoa Seniors (MNHP)). The visitors took a 1-0 lead.

BETWEEN THE PIPES

  • Becker freshman goalie Amber Lee (Nashua, N.H. / Northern Cyclones) had a strong performance between the pipes, tallying 28 saves.
  • Nichols sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Runciman (Leduc County, Canada / Athol Murray College of Notre Dame) recorded 21 stops on the night.
  • For the night, the Bison outshot the Hawks, 29-21.
  • Becker freshman forward Katie Puumala (Framingham, Mass. / Winchendon Prep) led the Hawks with eight shots on goal.

UP NEXT
The Hawks and Bison are back on the ice on Saturday when they play the second-half of their annual series, that coming at the Levy Rink in Harrisville, Rhode Island. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:40 p.m.
