Women's Lacrosse drops opener to Bison

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's lacrosse team lost 19-2 to visiting Nichols College on Wednesday evening at Alumni Field in Leicester in what was the season opener for both programs.


The Hawks of Becker (0-1) had one goal from junior midfielder Meghan Bealka (Freetown, Mass. / Apponequet Regional) and another from freshman midfielder Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H. / Exeter) with her first career goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine / Kents Hill) had 15 saves in 30 minutes.


The Bison of Nichols (1-0) were led by senior midfielder Brooke Marion (South Hadley, Mass. / South Hadley) with four goals and two assists. Sophomore attacker Kirsten Sullivan (Arlington, Mass. / Arlington) had a hat trick while junior attacker Allison Bench (Windham, N.H. / Windham), senior defender Reilly Flaherty (Bellingham, Mass. / Bellingham) and junior midfielder Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass. / Tilton School) had two goals each.


The Hawks of Becker are back on the field on Saturday when they host Dean College in a 1:00 p.m. game. The Bison of Nichols continue their season on Tuesday when they travel to Framingham State for a 4:00 p.m. matchup.
