Anchorwomen sail past Women’s Lacrosse

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's lacrosse team lost 9-3 to visiting Rhode Island College on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field in Leicester.


The Anchorwomen of Rhode Island (2-4) were led by sophomore attacker Tess Bradley (Tiverton, RI/Tiverton) with four goals, four ground balls and six draw controls. Senior midfielder Betsy Heidel (Warwick, RI/Pilgrim) scored twice while junior midfielder Toni Montanaro (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) and senior midfielder Jessica Trautman   (Narragansett, RI/Narragansett) each scored a goal and tallied five ground balls.


The Hawks of Becker (1-5) had goals from junior midfielder Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I. / Coventry), sophomore attacker Taryn Flebbe (Neptune, N.J. / Neptune) and freshman midfielder Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H. / Exeter). Sophomore goalkeeper Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine / Kents Hill) tallied 13 saves in net.


The Hawks of Becker are back on the field on Wednesday when they host Southern Vermont College in a 4:00 p.m. game. RIC plays next on Saturday when they travel to Plymouth State for a 1:30 p.m. contest.
