Women's Lacrosse blazed by Elms

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's lacrosse program lost 13-3 to visiting Elms College on Tuesday night at Alumni Field in Leicester.


The Blazers of Elms (4-1, 3-1 NECC) got five goals from freshman midfielder Haley Richard (Monson, Mass. / Monson), including two to open the game. Junior midfielder Alissa Porfilio (Agawam, Mass. / Agawam) had three goals while junior attacker Haley Roberts (Westfield, Mass. / Westfield) scored twice. Goals were also scored by Freshman attacker Alecia Keesee (Westfield, Mass. / Westfield), junior midfielder Jackie Soucia (Belchertown, Mass. / Belchertown) and sophomore attacker Vanessa Vurno (Salem, Conn. / East Lyme). Senior goalkeeper Meeghan O'Connor (Fall River, Mass. / Bishop Connolly) recorded seven saves in net.


The Hawks of Becker (1-7, 0-2 NECC) saw goals from freshman defender Samantha Carter (Boothbay Harbor, Maine / Boothbay Region), junior midfielder Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I. / Coventry) and freshman midfielder Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H. / Exeter). Sophomore goalkeeper Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine / Kents Hill) finished the day with nine stops.


The Hawks of Becker are back on the field on Thursday when they travel to Mass Maritime for a 7:00 p.m. contest. The Blazers of Elms plays next at Green Mountain, also on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
