LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's lacrosse team lost 18-1 to the visiting team from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field in Leicester.
The Buccaneers of Mass Maritime (4-2) were led by senior attacker Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn. / Brookfield) posted three goals and three assists for the game. ¬Hunt entered the game with 196 career points and reached 200 with her third goal of the game just 8:35 into the contest. Mass Maritime got on the board just 1:05 into the game when freshman attacker Anna Deely (Marstons Mills, Mass. / Barnstable) found the back of the net for an unassisted goal. Deely would finish with four goals, two assists and seven ground balls on the day. Freshman midfielder Casey Sullivan (Sagamore Beach, Mass. / Pope John Paul II) also had a big game with a gqame-high five goals, while junior wing Meghan Petruzziello (Malden, Mass. / Malden) finished with a hat trick while freshman attacker Christine Smith (Marshfield, Mass. / Marshfield) had one goal and two assists while freshman attacker Chloe Doucette (Manchester, Mass. / Manchester Essex Regional) posted one goal and one assist.
Mass Maritime led 12-1 at the half, and for the game the outshot Becker 42-12.
The Hawks of Becker (0-4) were led by sophomore midfielder Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H. / Exeter), who got the home team on the board with her third goal of the season with a score with 8:45 left in the first half. The sophomore also had a team-high six ground balls. Sophomore goalie Emily Loud (Wilmington, Mass. / Wilmington) came in to play in the second half, stopping seven out of ten shots.
Becker will be back on the field on Saturday when they play host to Wentworth in a 12:00 p.m. matchup. Mass Maritime also faces the Leopards in their next contest, that coming on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
