Nelson’s six goals carry Women's Lacrosse to first win

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's lacrosse team picked up their first victory of the season on Saturday, prevailing 11-6 over visiting Dean College at Alumni Field in Leicester.

The win represents the first for Becker head coach Ashley Mossey, as the Hawks improve to 1-10 overall and 1-3 in the NECC while the Bulldogs of Dean drop to 0-13.

Becker sophomore midfielder Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H. / Exeter) scored a career high six goals on the day including the first four of the game. Nelson also contributed with one assist, four ground balls and three draw controls. Freshman midfielder Sydney Theriault (Brookfield, Conn. / Brookfield) scored twice while sophomore midfielder Samantha Carter (Boothbay Harbor, Maine / Boothbay Region) posted a goal, an assist and five ground balls. Sophomore attacker Samantha D'Auteuil (Columbia, Conn. / Bolton) and freshman attacker Emily Campbell (Blackstone, Mass. / Balckstone-Millville) both scored as well. Junior goalie Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine / Kents Hill) earned the win with two saves in thirty minutes between the pipes.

For Dean, junior Makayla Fisher tallied four goals (Irvington, N.J. / Irvington) on the day, while freshman Genesis Johnson (Norwalk, Conn. / Brien McMahon) and junior Briana Saunders (Irvington, N.J. / Irvington). Junior goalkeeper Jamaya Cleveland (Greensboro, Ga. / Greene County) recorded 12 saves in net.

The Hawks will go on the road for their next game when they travel to Southern Vermont College for a 1:00 p.m. game on Sunday.
