Women's Lacrosse Posts Program-High 10 Wins; Conway and Storey Break School Records in Win over Wildcats

LEICESTER, Mass. – The Becker College women's lacrosse team posted a program-high 10 wins, senior goalkeeper Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine) broke the school record in single-season wins in net (10) and rookie attacker Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) broke the single-season assists record (27) as the Hawks defeated the Wildcats of Bay Path University in Wednesday afternoon conference action.

FOR THE HAWKS

  • The Hawks posted a program-high 10 wins in the game against Bay Path. This team now stands as the winningest women's lacrosse program in the history of Becker College, under the direction of second-year head coach Ashley Mossey.  The previous record was nine wins, which was recorded in 2015.
  • Storey, who currently holds the career saves record (535) and career wins record (24), broke the single-season wins in net record, with 10 today. The previous record-holder was Karena Prescot as she held a 9-6 record in 2015.
  • Conway, who finished the game with one goal and five assists, broke the single-season assists record and now has 27 assists in her rookie year.  The previous record holder was Tatum Fahs, as she had 25 assists in the 2014 season.
  • Becker's Briana Lancia (Cheshire, Mass.), Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H.) and Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) all had hat-tricks on the day.  This marks Lancia's first career hat-trick.  Nelson and Ravenelle also each had one assist.
  • Sophomore midfielder Sydney Theriault (Brookfield, Conn.) recorded three points on a season-high two goals and one assist.
  • Rookie Kylian Kelly (Shrewsbury, Mass.) logged one goal and one assist, and also picked up seven ground balls.
  • Arianna Calouro (East Providence, R.I.) had two goals for the Hawks.
  • Rebecca Maloy (Vergennes, Vt.) recorded a game-high six draw controls and also had two assists on the day.
  • Emma Schoenbeck (Gorham, N.H.) tallied a game-high nine ground balls and caused a game-high six caused turnovers.
  • The Hawks went 2-for-3 on free position shots and held a 13-6 edge in draw controls.

 

FOR THE WILDCATS

  • Megan McKenna (Bennington, Vt.) recorded the lone Wildcat goal, a team-high three draw controls, two caused turnover and one ground ball.
  • Megan Mackie (Kaiserslautern, Germany) assisted McKenna's goal and also collected two ground balls and two draw controls.
  • Caitlin Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) notched four ground balls.
  • Kayla Mello (Swansea, Mass.) was the defensive leader, causing a team-high three turnovers.
  • Kristina Tran (Agawam, Mass.) suffered the loss in net, as she stopped 8-of-25 goals on net.  She also recorded a team-high seven ground balls.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Becker came out and scored eight consecutive goals, scored by seven different players, before Bay Path's McKenna put one on the board midway through the first half.  Becker finished out the first half with four more goals, two of which were from Lancia.
  • The second half featured back-to-back goals from Ravenelle, a free-position shot from Kayla Hanley (Franklin, Mass.), and unassisted goals from Theriault and Emily Campbell (Blackstone, Mass.).  The final score stood at 17-1

 

UP NEXT
Bay Path's next game is scheduled for Friday, as they will head to Mitchell.  Becker returns to NECC action on Saturday (Apr. 20) and will travel to Dean for a 12 noon matchup.
