Women’s Lacrosse Downs Dean to Conclude Regular Season Undefeated in League Play; Nelson Joins 100-Point Club

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Becker College women's lacrosse team finished the regular season with an undefeated record in league play, as they downed Dean 24-2 in the regular season finale Thursday afternoon, earning the programs' first New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) regular season title.

FOR THE HAWKS

  • Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H.) became a member of the 100-point club today as she posted four goals and three assists in the win.  She now holds career totals of 80 goals and 24 assists. The junior also picked up two ground balls, won four draws and caused one turnover.
  • Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) had a day with a career-high seven goals and three assists.  She collected a game-high four ground balls and caused one turnover.
  • Kayla Hanley (Franklin, Mass.) and Julia Ravenelle (Barrington, N.H.) both had hat-trick's on the afternoon. This marks Hanley's first career hat-trick.
  • Arianna Calouro (East Providence, R.I.) recorded two goals and one assist in the win.
  • Kylian Kelly (Shrewbury, Mass.) logged a career-high 10 draw controls.
  • Both Molly Priestly (Bellingham, Mass.) and Victoria Chiuchiolo (Sutton, Mass.) scored their first career goals in the win.
  • Samantha D'Auteuil (Columbia, Conn.), Shannon Siclari (West Haven, Conn.) Emily Campbell (Blackstone, Mass.) each had goals in the match.
  • Senior goaltender Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine) made three saves in 41:52 played.

 

FOR THE BULLDOGS

  • Dean's Nicole Romero (Winchendon, Mass.) and Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn.) each had one goal on the occasion.
  • Romero had a team-high three ground balls in the setback
  • Makayla Fisher (Irvington, N.J.) registered the lone Dean assist.
  • Genesis Johnson (Norwalk, Conn.) won a team-high three draws for the Bulldogs.
  • Senior netminder Jamaya Cleveland (Greensboro, Ga.) took the loss in net, saving 13-of-37 shots on frame.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Becker scored 10 unanswered goals in the first 16 minutes of play, led by Nelson with three tallies. Dean put a number on the scoreboard with 6:55 remaining in the first with a man-up goal from Wilks on a free-position. The Hawks closed out the first half with goals from Hanley and Conway to lead 12-1 at the intermission.
  • Becker scored five straight coming out into the second half before Dean put their final tally up midway through the second half.  The Hawks did not allow another Bulldog goal, and put up six more to conclude the game at 24-2.

 

UP NEXT
The Hawks will await the pairings of the NECC women's lacrosse tournament which will be released later this week.
